Design
The ZTE nubia RedMagic 10 Air is a gaming smartphone that combines a sleek design with robust performance. It features a slim and lightweight design, measuring just 164.3 x 76.7 x 7.85mm in dimensions and weighing around 205 grams, which is both 10% slimmer and lighter than the RedMagic 10 Pro.
The body is constructed with a premium mix of glass on the front and back, supported by an aluminum frame that provides both a sleek feel and structural integrity. Its elegant, frosted back with a smooth, satin-like finish gives it a refined, minimalist appeal. The rear panel is clean with only the discreet “REDMAGIC” branding and a subtle logo visible, making it far more understated and sophisticated than its flashier predecessors.
The front is dominated by a 6.8-inch AMOLED display, nearly edge-to-edge with gently rounded edges. The screen is uninterrupted by notches or cutouts thanks to an under-display 16MP selfie camera. While it’s generally invisible, in very dark environments, the camera can be faintly seen, though it’s not particularly distracting. The phone also features an under-display optical fingerprint sensor, which is both quick and reliable.
Another thoughtful addition is the IR blaster on the top frame, a small, often overlooked feature that adds extra utility for users who want to control TVs or other IR-compatible devices.
Flipping to the back, the design remains clean and purposeful. Though there are three circular modules, only two house cameras; the third is a customizable RGB ring that also functions as a camera flash. It’s a clever dual-purpose element that ties into the phone’s more restrained aesthetic.
ZTE nubia RedMagic 10 Air also features an IP54 rating, offering moderate protection against dust and water splashes, making it more versatile than many of its gaming rivals.
For functionality, the nubia RedMagic 10 Air has the volume rocker and power button on the right-hand side. Even these have been subtly lowered to make room for the dual capacitive shoulder triggers, also located on the right. These triggers are among the best on any gaming phone, rivaled only by the implementation on ASUS’ ROG Phone series.
On the left side of the frame, you’ll find the Magic Key, a customizable button that can be mapped to various actions, such as launching apps or triggering specific in-game functions, a surprisingly versatile tool that adds to the phone’s gamer-focused appeal.
The bottom edge is home to a cluster of essential components: a dual Nano-SIM card tray, USB Type-C port, main microphone, and bottom-firing speaker. Interestingly, there’s no dedicated speaker on top; instead, RedMagic cleverly uses an amplified front-facing earpiece as the second audio channel for stereo sound. It’s subtly integrated and barely noticeable above the display.
The ZTE nubia RedMagic 10 Air comes in three striking colors: Black Twilight, White Hailstone, and Orange Flare, offering a range of aesthetic choices to match different styles. With a powerful battery, fast charging, and stylish color options, the RedMagic 10 Air balances functionality and design, making it a great choice for both performance and appearance.
Display
The ZTE nubia RedMagic 10 Air features a 6.8-inch AMOLED display that offers a near edge-to-edge experience with minimal bezels and no cutouts, thanks to its under-display selfie camera. This uninterrupted screen makes for an incredibly immersive visual experience, especially in gaming and media consumption.
The screen resolution sits at 1116 x 2480 pixels, resulting in a pixel density of roughly 400 ppi, which ensures sharpness and clarity even for fine text and graphical details. This resolution is paired with a 20:9 aspect ratio, which not only suits cinematic content but also gives gamers a slightly taller field of view, an advantage in many action and shooter games.
The display is sharp and vibrant, offering deep blacks and rich colors typical of high-end AMOLED panels. With 10-bit color depth, it supports over a billion colors, delivering smooth gradients and high color accuracy for both gaming and multimedia use.
Furthermore, it also has a 120Hz refresh rate, which ensures smooth scrolling, fluid animations, and a responsive feel, especially in fast-paced games. Coupled with a 960Hz touch sampling rate, which significantly reduces input lag and enhances touch sensitivity, the screen responds almost instantly to inputs.
With a peak brightness of 1600 nits, the nubia RedMagic 10 Air performs excellently outdoors. Even under direct sunlight, the display remains legible and punchy, making it ideal for use on the go. Such high brightness also benefits HDR content, enhancing dynamic range and contrast for a more immersive viewing experience.
Camera
The ZTE nubia RedMagic 10 Air offers a solid camera setup that blends high performance with versatility. The main rear camera boasts a 50MP OmniVision OV50E sensor, paired with a 7P lens design and optical image stabilization (OIS), ensuring sharp, detailed shots in a variety of lighting conditions. This camera captures vibrant, well-balanced photos, with rich color accuracy and impressive dynamic range, even in tricky lighting.
The 50MP resolution provides plenty of detail, and the OIS helps reduce motion blur in low-light scenarios or during quick movements. For portraits, the camera works well at a 24mm-equivalent focal length for standard shots and can switch to a 33mm equivalent for tighter compositions with a more pronounced background blur, though the lack of a dedicated telephoto lens means the zoom is digital, which does soften the image slightly at 2x magnification.
The second rear camera is another 50MP sensor, the OmniVision OV50D, which functions as an ultra-wide lens with a 125-degree field of view. This lens also includes autofocus, allowing it to double as a macro camera for detailed close-up shots.
The nubia RedMagic 10 Air doesn’t have a dedicated telephoto lens, but it offers 2x digital zoom on the main camera, which works surprisingly well in most cases. The quality remains close to the original 1x shot, with only a slight decrease in sharpness.
The autofocus feature makes this ultra-wide lens versatile, enabling users to capture wide landscapes or get close to small subjects for macro photography. While the ultra-wide camera performs admirably in good light, it does lose some sharpness at the edges, as is common with many ultrawide lenses. However, the autofocus feature means you can use it for macro shots, which provides additional creative possibilities when photographing smaller subjects like flowers, textures, or small objects.
On the front, the RedMagic 10 Air features a 16MP selfie camera, which uses the OmniVision OV16EQ sensor. This camera does well in well-lit environments, producing selfies with good color fidelity and decent sharpness. However, it lacks autofocus, so close-up shots may not be as crisp or detailed as those captured with an autofocus lens. Despite this, it provides solid results for everyday selfies and video calls.
For video, the phone can record at 8K at 30fps and 4K at 30fps/60fps, offering smooth footage with good color accuracy. While both resolutions provide vibrant color accuracy and good dynamic range, the phone’s OIS helps with stability, though it may still struggle in fast-moving or low-light scenarios.
Hardware and Software
The ZTE nubia RedMagic 10 Air is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, a top-tier processor that delivers exceptional performance, particularly in gaming and heavy multitasking. This chipset boasts an impressive octa-core configuration: one prime Cortex-X4 core clocked at up to 3.3 GHz, five Cortex-A720 cores at 3.2 GHz, and two Cortex-A520 cores at 2.3 GHz.
This chip ensures smooth gameplay, fast app loading, and impressive graphics rendering, making it one of the most powerful processors available for smartphones.
In addition, the chip is paired with the Adreno 740 GPU; hence, it can easily handle graphically demanding games and intensive applications while also maintaining energy efficiency. The Adreno 750 GPU ensures excellent graphics performance, making this phone well-suited for high-end gaming and multitasking.
Complementing the chipset are two custom co-processors: the Energy Cube and RedCore R3, which enhance the phone’s performance by managing power, improving frame pacing, and even increasing frame rates with interpolation. The RedCore R3 is particularly useful for reducing power consumption during gaming and handling audio enhancements.
In terms of storage and RAM, the RedMagic 10 Air is available in two configurations: 12GB of RAM with 256GB of storage or 16GB of RAM with 512GB of storage. This ensures smooth multitasking and quick access to apps, games, and large files.
Furthermore, the ZTE nubia RedMagic 10 Air also incorporates an advanced cooling system called ICE-X, which features a large 6,100 mm² vapor chamber and liquid metal to keep temperatures in check during intense gaming sessions.
The nubia RedMagic 10 Air runs on the latest RedMagic OS 10, based on Android 15, and is designed with a focus on performance and user experience. Redmagic also promises three years of software updates on the phone, ensuring long-term support for users.
The device offers a clean and responsive user experience with a few gaming-focused features, such as a customizable Magic Key and the ability to optimize game performance for smoother play. The UI is designed to minimize distractions, providing an experience that prioritizes performance and simplicity while still offering customization options.
The OS comes with AI-powered enhancements, such as AI Photo Search, real-time translation, and tools for advanced image editing, bringing useful functionality to the device. The Gamespace has also been upgraded, offering more features to optimize gaming performance, including tools to adjust settings for smoother play.
The nubia RedMagic 10 Air is equipped with a 6,000mAh battery, offering a solid battery life to support long gaming sessions, media consumption, and everyday use. Coupled with 80W wired charging, the device can be fully charged from 0% to 100% in just 52 minutes, ensuring minimal downtime for users. Whether you’re gaming or streaming content, the fast-charging capability is a major convenience.
